- Purpose
This policy sets out how First Kick Football meets the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS 2023). EYFS applies to all children from birth through to the end of their Reception year.
- EYFS Coordinator
The Holiday Club Manager is the designated EYFS Coordinator on site, supported by the Operations Director and Office Team.
– Office Team – collect booking information, registration forms and parental consents before attendance.
– Operations Director – ensures policies, procedures, and staff training meet EYFS requirements.
– Holiday Club Manager (on site) – responsible for:
– Identifying EYFS children when they join the Club, and informing the staff team.
– Determining the primary EYFS provider (typically the child’s school).
– Assigning a key person for each EYFS child.
– Ensuring information sharing methods (e.g., communication book, agreed online platform) are followed.
– Liaising with the primary EYFS provider regarding the support offered by the Club.
- Provision
The Club provides a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities. We follow play principles, allowing children to choose how they occupy their time, and never forcing them to participate in a given activity.
- EYFS Principles
We recognise the four overarching EYFS principles:
– A Unique Child – every child is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
– Positive Relationships – children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships with staff and families.
– Enabling Environments – children develop well in safe, stimulating environments where experiences respond to individual needs.
– Learning and Development – children learn in different ways and at different rates, including those with SEND.
- Inclusion and SEND
– We tailor experiences to meet the individual needs and abilities of children.
– We comply with the Equality Act 2010 and the SEND Code of Practice.
– Staff liaise with parents, schools, and external professionals where appropriate to support each child.
- Safeguarding and Welfare
– We follow the safeguarding and welfare requirements of EYFS 2023 (Section 3) and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025.
– Records are kept securely in line with our Data Protection Policy.
– All staff complete safeguarding training and understand their duty to protect children.
- Partnership with Parents & Providers
– We maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and schools.
– Information is shared regularly, with parental consent, to support continuity of care and learning.
- Review
This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if required by changes in legislation or practice.
