Supervision of Staff Policy

Purpose

First Kick CIC is committed to ensuring that all staff and volunteers are effectively supervised in order to safeguard children, support professional development, and maintain high standards of practice across all football sessions and holiday clubs.

Principles

– Safeguarding is paramount: supervision ensures all staff understand their responsibilities for keeping children safe.
– Supervision provides regular opportunities for reflection, support, and development.
– Clear lines of accountability exist between managers, team leaders, and staff.
– Supervision arrangements comply with Ofsted and EYFS requirements.

Procedures

– Induction: All new staff and volunteers receive an induction outlining safeguarding, behaviour management, health and safety, and organisational policies.
– Ongoing Supervision:
  • Line managers meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, safeguarding concerns, and wellbeing.
  • Formal supervision meetings are held at least termly (more often for new or less experienced staff).
– Observation: Staff may be observed during sessions to ensure quality, safety, and consistency.
– Appraisals: Annual appraisals review performance, training needs, and career development.
– Support and Escalation: Concerns about practice or conduct are addressed promptly in line with the Staff Behaviour and Disciplinary Policies.

– Operations Director (Suleman Desai): overall responsibility for ensuring supervision processes are in place.
